About Us

About us:

Indigenous Times was founded in 1993; it has since become a staple in Saskatchewan as an Aboriginal news source. Indigenous Times has always remained fully First Nations owned, and in 2008 was consigned to new ownership — First Nations youth from George Gordon First Nation and English River First Nation.

Mission:

First and foremost, our mission is to serve the Aboriginal community of Saskatchewan. We do this by providing a medium for exposure that adheres to traditional ways of First Nations people — i.e. to be “the Aboriginal Voice of the Prairies”. We also provide First Nations people, especially youth, with opportunity to work and gain experience in news, media, and advertising.

Central to our mission is quality, friendly and inclusive service that creates and nurtures good relationships.

We are here for our communities and we are here for our people.

Editorial Mission:

Indigenous Times provides news articles and op-ed (opinion) columns that focus on positive events and people in the Aboriginal community. We also shine a light on important issues affecting Aboriginal people in Saskatchewan. Every issue contains politics, entertainment, sports stories etc. from both urban and on-reserve communities all across Saskatchewan. These  articles are all from a First Nations perspective and are sensitive to traditional ways of First Nations people.
